Despite the Golden State Warriors being down Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Al Horford, Steve Kerr left forward Jonathan Kuminga on the bench on Sunday. It’s now expected that the Warriors will look to trade Kuminga ahead of the trade deadline.
Kuminga becomes trade eligible on January 15. That’s roughly three weeks ahead of the February 5 NBA trade deadline. Golden State is expected to try to line up a trade in advance of that deadline.
The 23-year-old forward signed a two-year, $46.8 million contract with the Warriors as a restricted free agent this past offseason. This season, Kuminga makes $22.5 million, with a $24.3 million team option for next season. Golden State also got Kuminga to give up his de facto no-trade clause when he re-signed this past summer.
