Man Utd in right-back conundrum

Manchester United are still interested in a move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier, but fear being held to ransom by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Reports in the Mirror claim the north Londoners want around £30 million for their England international, despite the 27-year-old having an uninspiring Premier League season after being a standout performer at the World Cup in 2018.

Trippier’s dip in form has seen him axed from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming Nations League, and the fee quoted by Levy has given United plenty to think about, with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also considering Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka as an option for the United right-back berth.

Wan-Bissaka has been a revelation at Selhurst Park this season, and the 21-year-old represents a much younger option than Trippier, but at £45m, he is also a much more expensive one.

Kieran Trippier fell short of Champions League glory with Tottenham. Is a future at Old Trafford next?

Lukaku hoping for golden goodbye

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku‘s hopes of securing a move to Inter Milan rely on the Old Trafford club providing the Belgian with a huge pay-off, according to reports in The Mirror.

Solskjaer has preferred Marcus Rashford in the lone-striker berth since taking charge at the backend of last year, and Lukaku is desperate to land first-team football elsewhere.

Antonio Conte’s Inter is his most likely destination at the moment, but the Italians cannot afford United’s £75m asking price, or indeed the 26-year-old’s £195,000 a week wages.

But with United keen to offload some of their high-ticket stars to fund a summer revamp, there is hope among the Inter ranks that Old Trafford bosses will slash their asking price, whilst also offering to subsidise a large chunk of the forward’s wages for the final three years of his contract.

Zidane considering mass Real clearout

AS claims Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has as many as 14 players’ futures in his hands going into the summer, with Los Blancos set for a huge overhaul in the coming months.

Madrid are looking to make up to six major signings in the next few weeks, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen and Paul Pogba all featuring on Zidane’s wishlist, and a mass clearout could be needed to free up funds for transfer fees and wages for a new wave of galacticos.

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas is set to be the most high-profile casualty of the Bernabeu exodus, and the futures of fringe duo Marcos Llorente and Dani Ceballos are also under extreme doubt.

Decisions also need to made regarding the futures of Mateo Kovacic and Martin Odegaard, who have enjoyed successful loan spells away from the club this season, and will be the subject of further interest heading into the summer.
