TOP STORY: Man United eye summer move for Maddison

The Independent reports that Manchester United are still very much interested in securing the services of star Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

It is said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t make a move during the January transfer window but will look to attract the 23-year-old to Old Trafford during the summer. Solskjaer’s interest in the Coventry City academy graduate has strengthened after he missed out on securing Bruno Fernandes’ services from Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese outfit reportedly wanting £68 million.

The report adds that Leicester City chiefs are keen to retain Maddison’s services, and will part with him only for a premium price.

Manchester United haven’t let go of their desires to bring Leicester’s James Maddison to Old Trafford.

Barca talent Perez close to securing Italian move

Roma are in advanced talks to sign 21-year-old Barcelona striker Carles Perez, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The report suggests that Perez is likely to join Roma as a replacement for Nicolo Zaniolo, who is expected to miss the rest of the season because of a cruciate injury. It adds that Barcelona’s final go-ahead is the only thing preventing a deal from being completed.

Perez has made 12 appearances for the Blaugrana in all competitions this season, scoring two goals, having graduated from the club’s famed La Masia academy.

Suso’s Spanish homecoming?

Former Liverpool winger Suso could be on his way out of AC Milan as discussions continue regarding a potential loan move to Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla, Calciomercato reports.

Reportedly the target of several Premier League clubs as well, Suso has struggled to rediscover his form at the San Siro this campaign, making only 18 appearances. Now, though, Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui has declared his interest in the 26-year-old, having previously worked with him in Spain’s national youth team.

The report states two types of deals are being discussed: a loan move with an obligation to buy or a loan move with an option to buy. The former is understandably Milan’s preferred option, with an outcome expected in the coming days.

Tap-ins

The Guardian writes that Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has been offered to Manchester United, despite the forward already on loan at Monaco, where he has scored an average of a goal every other appearance. Should the Red Devils move for the 31-year-old to replace the injured Marcus Rashford, it could cost them up to £5m.

– Injury-hit Bournemouth have declared their interest in RB Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman, according to the Mail, whom the Cherries are targeting for a loan through the remainder of the season. His parent club, however, would prefer a loan with an option to buy — something Bournemouth are not prepared to do. Another name on Eddie Howe’s list is Tottenham’s Danny Rose, as the Dorset side search for answers to their relegation-threatened season.
