Nico Harrison Fired By Mavericks

Nico Harrison has been fired as general manager of the Dallas Mavericks. Harrison was hired as general manager of the Mavericks in 2021 and helped construct a roster that reached The Finals in 2024, but his job has been in jeopardy to start the 2025-26 season as the fallout from the Luka Doncic trade intensified.

Harrison was fired during a meeting the Dallas general manager has scheduled with governor Patrick Dumont on Tuesday morning

Dumont initially supported Harrison in the immediate aftermath of the Doncic trade, but he has begun to question his commitment to him with the Mavericks beginning the season with a 3-8 record. The roster lacks playmakers, which has forced Cooper Flagg into a role he’s not suited for at this point in his rookie season. D’Angelo Russell was the only Mavericks’ offseason acquisition that addressed that issue while they also maintained multiple bigs in Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II.

Harrison joined the Mavericks after a lengthy tenure with Nike where he had close relationships with Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving and others.
