LIVE Transfer Talk: Man United, City to battle for Villa’s Grealish

The winter transfer window is closed — but now it’s time to look ahead to the summer! Here are the new rumours floating around following the Jan. 31 deadline day.

TOP STORY: Grealish open to Manchester move

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa star Jack Grealish is now open to the idea of leaving the Midlands club during the summer transfer window.

Grealish has been on fire so far this season, establishing himself as one of the most in-form stars in the Premier League. In the past he’s been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but he’s stayed loyal to Villa.

However, the report indicates that he’s ready to take his game to the next level with Villa expecting to field offers from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City in the summer.

17.05 GMT: Bayern Munich have joined Arsenal in the race for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, the France U21 international who has just 18 months remaining on his contract, and have requested that the player’s representatives keep the Bavarian giants informed of any approaches for the 21-year-old from rival suitors, according to Bild.

15.48 GMT: Paraguayan club Olimpia Asuncion have agreed a deal “in principle” to sign free agent striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the BBC, with the 35-year-old out of contract having last played for Turkish side Kayserispor.

14.31 GMT: Chelsea could be set to bring in Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, says Le 10 Sport.

Onana, 23, has been linked with Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona but is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge as Kepa has failed to live up to his £71.6m pricetag.

13.53 GMT: Gent forward Jonathan David has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, but the 20-year-old has offered up some interesting comments on his preference for a move.

“I love all teams in the Premier League: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, but also Southampton, Crystal Palace, Everton,” he told Het Laatste Nieuw. “I like nice teams. I’m just not a big fan of Liverpool.”

13.12 GMT: Sheffield United would surely love to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United permanently, but the Manchester Evening News reports that United want at least £30m for the goalkeeper.

Henderson, 22, has been a star at Bramall Lane during his season-long loan but is unlikely to land a summer move as United’s pricetag is so high.

12.45 GMT: Reports out of Italy, from Corriere dello Sport, say that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has a release clause of €150m.

The Senegal international is of interest to Manchester United, among a host of top clubs in Europe, but will be available for a world-record fee in June if someone can stump up the cash.

12.07 GMT: Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has designs on becoming Manchester United manager next season if the club remove Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, says the Mirror.

11.33 GMT: Aaron Ramsey left Arsenal to join Juventus on a free transfer last summer but, according to Calciomercato, he’s set to leave Turin already.

Ramsey, 29, has struggled to impress during an injury-hit maiden season and the report claims Juve are open to offers. Though there’s no clubs linked yet.

10.52 GMT: Liverpool are eyeing a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer, says the Athletic.

Werner, 23, has been on the radar of Europe’s top clubs for some time but the report says that Jurgen Klopp is keen to get himself a backup striker as well as a left-back to compete with Andy Robertson.

Sources have told ESPN that the Reds are leading the way for Werner, while a reported release clause is “affordable.”

10.09 GMT: United States’ left-back Antonee Robinson failed to get a move to AC Milan in January, which has left the door open for others.

Robinson, 22, saw his deadline day move fall apart due to a lack of time to get the paperwork done and now Milan could lose out to Chelsea, who are reportedly keen on a summer move, according to the Mirror.

09.38 GMT: Wigan striker Joe Gelhardt has been dubbed ‘the new Wayne Rooney‘ and so of course Everton are interested, says the Sun.

Gelhardt, 17, was born in Liverpool and has made the England Under-18 side, though hasn’t had much of a chance to shine in the Championship this season. But now the Toffees are keen to snap him up before Chelsea (who have also scouted the striker) make their move.

09.00 GMT: Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has impressed on loan at Roma this season, but as a result his price has increased to €20m and the Italian club are unhappy about having to pay such a fee for the 30-year-old if they want to sign him permanently this summer.

The Express reports that Roma are keen to do a deal, but only have €14m set aside for the transfer.

PAPER TALK (by Harry Kettle)

Coutinho heading back to Premier League?

A series of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Philippe Coutinho this summer, the Express reports.

The Brazilian has failed to make the desired impact at Bayern Munich after an initially promising start, with the belief now being that a number of teams across English football’s top flight could be gearing up to make an offer. At the top of the list are Manchester United and Liverpool with Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham not too far behind.

As previously noted, Barca are willing to take a big cut on the €160m they initially paid for Coutinho when they brought him to Camp Nou from Anfield, with bids of €80m deemed acceptable.

PSG to look at Rose if Kurzawa departs

PSG look set to scout Newcastle United defender Danny Rose during his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur, The Sun reports.

The expectation is that the French giants will go after the Englishman once his time with the Magpies comes to an end, with Rose looking to prove himself after not being given much of a chance to do so (in his own words) during the end of his time with Spurs.

PSG were keen on Rose amid a prolonged winter saga with left-back Layvin Kurzawa, who had been linked with Juventus and Arsenal. The French defender ended up staying in Paris but will be hot on the transfer list again in the summer.

And if Kurzawa does depart the Parc des Princes, then Rose could ensure that the French champions’ backline doesn’t skip too much of a beat.

Tap-ins

– As Barcelona look for someone to take the place of injured forward Luis Suarez, could the club be looking at … Luis Suarez? The other Suarez plays for Spanish second division side Real Zaragoza, on loan from Watford. The Colombian has 14 goals in 24 matches for Zaragoza, but Watford hold the cards on this one.

– Juventus are ready to make Luca Pellegrini a member of the squad next season as opposed to letting him go once again, Calciomercato reports. The 20-year-old has impressed during his second loan spell with Cagliari and will be rewarded by Maurizio Sarri with a spot in the Old Lady’s first team for the 2020-21 campaign.
