Lippi returns to China post

2006 FIFA World Cup™ winner Marcello Lippi has been re-appointed as China PR coach for the upcoming Qatar 2022 qualifying campaign.

Lippi resigned following the conclusion of the AFC Asian Cup campaign in January and was briefly replaced by his Germany 2006 captain Fabio Cannavaro, only for the latter to step-down almost immediately.

Lippi was first appointed China boss three years ago in the middle of Asia’s third round qualifying for Russia 2018. Under his guidance, the team managed three wins and two draws from six outings. Lippi then led Team Dragon to a last-eight finish at the 2019 Asian Cup.

“In order to prepare for the qualifying campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, CFA has decided that Marcello Lippi will be the head coach of China team. He will begin coaching the team in June, ” CFA said in a media release on their official website.
