The Houston Rockets reach an agreement on an extension with Jabari Smith Jr. fairly quickly this offseason. It’s taken longer with Kevin Durant and Tari Eason, with one being more likely than the other.
Durant is still seen as likely to extend his contract with the Rockets. The veteran forward is in the final year of his deal. He’s extension-eligible through the end of the league year on June 30. Durant is eligible to add two years to his deal at a projected $122 million.
Eason is seen as less certain to come to an agreement on an extension. The fourth-year forward is eligible to extend through October 20, which is one day before the regular season starts. There’s been no reporting on how close Eason and Houston are to coming to terms on an extension.
