The Boston Celtics have announced that Jayson Tatum will make his return from his Achilles injury on Friday when they host the Dallas Mavericks. Tatum suffered the Achilles injury last May in the Eastern Conference Semifinals less than 10 months ago. Tatum scored 42 points to go with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in the game against the New York Knicks
Tatum has been ramping up his recovery over the past few weeks with several 5-on-5 scrimmages. Tatum is expected to play reduced minutes in the initial games back from injury.
Despite playing without Tatum and significant roster changes in the offseason as they traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis while also letting Luke Kornet and Al Horford leave in free agency, the Celtics are currently second in the Eastern Conference.
Tatum has been an All-NBA First Team selection in each of the past four seasons.
