Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo says he is yet to speak to Harry Kane, after the wantaway striker missed a 2-2 pre-season friendly draw at Chelsea.

“I really expect to speak with Harry. I haven’t had the chance yet,” said Nuno, who became Spurs manager this summer.

“We should discuss it internally, try to avoid any public argument or discussion about it.”

City want the 28-year-old, who has scored 221 goals for Spurs, but will not pay the £160m the London side are reportedly asking.

When asked where Kane was – with reports he is in Florida – and when he would return, Nuno said: “I will not speak with you about that.

“Anything in relation to Harry is internal. First of all we need to sort the problems ourselves.”

A Hakim Ziyech double gave Chelsea a 2-0 lead in the friendly but Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn scored for Spurs.

Both teams named strong sides, with a first appearance for Spurs goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini after his loan move from Atalanta.

It was the second game of the Mind Series involving Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Funds raised will be split between mental health charity Mind and the clubs’ foundations.
