Five things to know about the Pelicans on Jan. 22, 2020

1)      You may have heard by now that this evening is a special one for No. 1 pick Zion Williamson, who will make his NBA regular season debut vs. San Antonio at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and Fox Sports New Orleans, with the latter’s “Pelicans Warmup” show beginning at 8. 4)      Four Pelicans players are listed as questionable on the latest injury report.

5)      On Western Conference Wednesday, the Pelicans (17-27, up to No. 17 in NBA.com’s power rankings) are 3.5 games behind eighth-place Memphis (20-23) and have jumped ahead of Minnesota and Sacramento over the past week, meaning New Orleans is 12th in the West. Wednesday’s game is the first of four this season against San Antonio (19-23), which holds a three-game edge in the standings over New Orleans. Among teams currently 8 through 14, the Pelicans have the fewest road games remaining other than Portland.
