Dabrowski, Pavic rally to reach French Open mixed semis

WTA Tennis

PARIS, France – Gabriela Dabrowski’s campaign to reach a third straight French Open final in mixed doubles stayed alive on Tuesday – just barely.

The Canadian and Mate Pavic, the No.2 seeds in the mixed doubles draw, came from a set down to defeat No.5 seeds Zhang Shuai and John Peers in a match tiebreak, 1-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Zhang and Peers served for the match in the second set, but never reached match point.

Dabrowski ended Tuesday on a winning note, after she and Xu Yifan fell in a dramatic doubles quarterfinal match to Duan Ying-ying and Zheng Saisai earlier in the day.

The No.4 seeds in women’s doubles served for the match, and were unable to convert a match point, in a loss to the unseeded Chinese team, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
