Rebecca Adlington says that the men selected on the shortlist for the 2011 Sports Personality of the Year award are all “amazing athletes” and fully deserve to be there.

The Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer adds that “it is a shame” no women athletes are on the shortlist, but hopefully with strong performances in the London Olympics there will be a stronger female showing in 2012.
