Tari Eason and the Houston Rockets were unable to agree to terms on a contract extension before Monday’s deadline, but there was mutual interest and may have come down to how much of the contract was guaranteed for injury. Eason played in 82 games as a rookie, but just 22 in 2023-24 and 57 in 2024-25.
“From what I understand, they made Eason a strong offer,” said Brian Windhorst. “It was in excess of $100 million, but I don’t know how much of it would have been guaranteed.”
Last season, Eason averaged 12.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.7 steals in 24.9 minutes.
Eason will become a restricted free agent in 2026 and is represented by Thaddeus Foucher and Chafie Fields.
