Quentin Grimes has signed his one-year, $8.7 million qualifying offer with the Philadelphia 76ers. Grimes will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026 and cannot be traded without his permission.
Grimes and the Sixers never appeared particularly close on a deal. The Sixers’ first formal offer was a four-year, $39 million deal. Grimes was looking for a contract in the $30 million range and then came down to the $20 million to $25 million range.
The Sixers only offered Grimes an additional $100,000 above his $8.8 million qualifying offer to incentivize him to waive his inherent no-trade clause. Grimes offered Philadelphia a one-year, $17 million framework and a two-year deal at $34 million with a player option, which were both rejected by Philadelphia.
Grimes averaged 21.9 points and 4.5 assists in 28 games with the 76ers after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks at the February deadline. Grimes spent his first two seasons with the New York Knicks before trades to the Detroit Pistons, Mavericks and Sixers.
