Notre Dame is off to a scorching start in its 2027 class.
Ellis McGaskin, one of the top defensive prospects in next year’s recruiting class out of Mobile (Ala.) Williamson, committed to the Irish.
Notre Dame edged out Ohio State, LSU and others for Rivals’ No. 3-rated linebacker, whose first visit to South Bend and time around Marcus Freeman earlier this month left a lasting impression as a decision quickly arrived.
“I love the staff, I love the atmosphere, I love their campus and how they conduct business. I also love the religious piece of Notre Dame. It’s where I felt the most home at,” McGaskin detailed to Rivals. “I know I can be developed there and have a chance to compete for a national championship year in a year out.”
“Talking with Coach (Freeman) about how they would use me gives me full confidence I will be able to play and be successful at Notre Dame,” he continued. “After talking with my family and praying it just felt like this was the time to commit.”
