The Utah Jazz have acquired Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale, Vince Williams Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks.
The Grizzlies signed Jackson to a renegotiate-and-extend contract worth $240 million over five seasons in the offseason, but have quickly pivoted to a more thorough rebuild. After trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in June and now Jackson to the Grizzlies, they have a decision to make on whether to move Ja Morant now ahead of the deadline or potentially wait until the offseason.
The Grizzlies will receive the most favorable 2027 first round pick between the Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers along with the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2027 first round pick and the Phoenix Suns’ 2031 first round pick.
Jackson is a two-time All-Star and one-time Defensive Player of the Year who is 26 and under team control until his player option in 2029. Jackson is represented by Austin Brown and Max Saidman of CAA.
Jackson will slot in beside Lauri Markkanen in the Utah frontcourt as they look to take the next step forward in their rebuild following the emergence of Keyonte George at guard.
