TEXAS RANGERS ANNOUNCE 30-MAN OPENING OPENNG DAY ROSTER

The following is a press release from the Texas Rangers:

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers today announced the following transactions to reach the 30-man opening day roster limit to begin the 2020 season.

–RHPs Ian Gibaut and Edinson Volquez and OF Rob Refsnyder selected to 40-man Major League roster.

–LHPs Kolby Allard and Joe Palumbo and OFs Scott Heineman and Leody Taveras, who were optioned during spring training in March, have been recalled from the Alternate Training Site roster.

–LHP Yohander Mendez assigned outright off Major League roster and removed from 60-man Club Player Pool.

–RHP Rafael Montero (right elbow tendonitis) and LHP Joely Rodriguez (left lat strain) placed on 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 20.

–LHP Taylor Hearn and OF Adolis Garcia, already on option, assigned to Alternate Training Site.

–RHP Jimmy Herget, LHP Wes Benjamin, and INF Greg Bird, non-roster players, assigned to Alternate Training Site.

With today’s moves, the Rangers have the limit of 40 players on their Major League roster.

Per 2020 MLB regulations, the active roster must be reduced from 30 to 28 players by 11:00 a.m. CT on August 6, and the active roster must be reduce from 28 to 26 players by 11:00 a.m. CT on August 20.
