United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer granted his players a day off at the start of the week but the squad were expected back at Carrington on Tuesday ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Lukaku is wanted by both Inter Milan and Juventus but United are yet to receive an acceptable bid. They value the 26-year-old at around £80 million and rejected a £54m offer from Inter last month.

It is the second time in a week Lukaku has landed himself in trouble. He was reprimanded last week after posting confidential training data on Twitter. The running statistics recorded during preseason training in Perth showed Lukaku clocked the second-highest top speed behind Diogo Dalot.

However, sources have told ESPN FC that Luke Shaw, who was bottom of the list, was among those unhappy that the information had been made public prompting Solskjaer to rebuke the Belgium international.
