MATCH POINTS

Zheng Saisai has won her only previous meeting with Danielle Collins, coming out on top 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in Wuhan last year.

Collins has lost against a player outside the WTA Top 50 only once in 2019. Zheng is currently WTA World No.55.

Kristie Ahn’s last win against Elise Mertens came in at ITF event in Changwon in 2016. Since then, she has twice been defeated by the Belgian, including a US Open qualifier later that same year.

Ahn’s career-best win came in Bogota earlier this year as she came back from a set down to beat WTA World No.29 Jelena Ostapenko. No.3 seed this week, Mertens is currently ranked No.20.

Amanda Anisimova has a 5-2 winning record against her fellow American players in WTA Tour matches. Taylor Townsend accounts for both defeats – in Miami 2017 and at last year’s US Open.

Madison Brengle has lost her last two Tour matches against compatriots, though she has won four straight ITF matches versus Americans.

Donna Vekic and Victoria Azarenka will meet each other for the first time.
