Palermo 2019: Sunday’s Order of Play and Match Points

MATCH POINTS

Both Bertens and Teichmann are already among WTA title-winners this year, as Bertens plays for her third title of 2019 while Teichmann plays for her second.

They have each won a title on clay in 2019 so far, with Bertens winning the biggest title of her career at the Premier Mandatory Mutua Madrid Open, and Teichmann winning her first career title at the J&T Banka Prague Open.

Teichmann looks to join six other players as multiple title-winners should she raise the trophy in Palermo: including Bertens, Ashleigh Barty, Karolina Pliskova, Petra Kvitova, Dayana Yastremska and Sofia Kenin have all won more than one singles title so far in 2019.

The pair have never played, but Bertens owns a 10-1 record against left-handed players in 2019.

Her only loss to a lefty came to Petra Kvitova at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, and she beat the left-handed Ekaterine Gorgodze with the loss of just one game in the first round this week.

Both players have been dominant on serve over their first four matches, but there is a clear gulf between the in one statistic.

Bertens has served 18 aces across her first four matches, while Teichmann has recorded just eight – but both players have won an identical percentage of their service games (80.6%) and total percentage of points on serve (62.9%).
