LIVE Transfer Talk: Maddison Man United move could include Lingard

It’s go time as the January transfer window is open. Find out when it closes across Europe, view the latest transfers as they happen and keep up to date with the newest gossip below.

TOP STORY: Maddison and Lingard could swap sides in deal

The Daily Mirror reports that Manchester United could be prepared to throw in Jesse Lingard as part of a deal to bring James Maddison to the club.

Maddison is a long-term United target and has been in sparkling form for Leicester as they continue their Champions League push. And now it seems that they’re willing to offer Lingard to get the transfer over the line.

Lingard has endured a miserable campaign at Old Trafford and has fallen out of favour with Gareth Southgate and England. And although United think they will have to wait until the summer to complete the deal, their willingness to triple Maddison’s weekly wage to £150,000, according to the report, could be enough to get him to Olt Trafford.

PAPER ROUND: Chelsea willing to sell Emerson to Juve

Frank Lampard could be tempted to offload both Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, with the former potentially heading to Juventus as early as this month.

That’s according to Calciomercato, which claims that Chelsea and Juventus officials have been in touch over a possible deal, and although the Bianconeri would prefer to do their business in the summer, there is the potential of a loan deal with an obligation to buy happening in January.

The 25-year-old arrived in West London in January 2018, moving from Roma for a fee of over £17 million. Chelsea’s apparent willingness to sell comes as something of a surprise given he still appears to be a part of the club’s future plans, but stranger things have happened.

And should Emerson depart, he can be confident of being a key part of Juve’s first team line-up, and that in itself could be crucial with Euro 2020 looming this summer. Watch this space.

No-go for Begovic

Bournemouth will stop either Aston Villa or West Ham from buying Asmir Begovic, as the Cherries face up to a full-on relegation scrap.

That’s according to the Daily Star, which claims that Eddie Howe will turn down any move for his keeper from teams down among the relegation candidates of the Premier League. Begovic has just returned from a loan spell in Azerbaijan with Qarabag FK and is thought to be prepared to take a drop in his £110,000 weekly salary.

But Bournemouth know just how much Premier League survival is worth and they won’t be cashing in on their No. 2 anytime soon.

Tap-ins

– The future of Edinson Cavani remains as clear as mud, reports Marca, with PSG manager Thomas Tuchel proclaiming himself confident that the Uruguayan will still be with the club when the January transfer window shuts. The player himself has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, either now or in the summer, but Tuchel has poured cold water on speculation over his future and that of Leandro Paredes.

– West Ham are gearing up for showdown talks with Portuguese giants Benfica over the signing of Gedson Fernandes, so says the Daily Mail. The 20-year-old has a monumental release clause of £102m, but new Hammers boss David Moyes has admitted that the struggling Londoners are still keen on bringing him to the capital.
