Florida guard Andrew Nembhard expected to withdraw from 2020 NBA Draft and transfer

Florida guard Andrew Nembhard, a former five-star prospect from the Class of 2018, is expected to withdraw from the 2020 NBA Draft and transfer to a new school, a source confirmed to CBS Sports on Saturday.

The development is a blow to the Gators who had hopes of the sophomore returning to Gainesville next season.

Nembhard has started all 67 of Florida’s games since arriving on campus, averaging 11.2 points, 5.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 33.3 minutes per contest as a sophomore. His departure means the Gators will be without two of their top three scorers from a year ago as graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr. is also gone. Sophomore guard Keyontae Johnson will return for another season. The Gators struggled to a 19-12 record overall and 11-7 in SEC play.

According to standard transfer rules, Nembhard would have to sit out the 2020-21 season before having two more years of eligibility. But, like most transfers, he will likely apply for a waiver to play immediately.
