Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry

On the Pelicans’ resiliency in overtime after the call to end regulation:

“It was great. They sit down there and they said, ‘Don’t worry about it, we’ll win the game in overtime.’ You know and I know, it never should have gotten to that point, but they did. They said, ‘Don’t worry about it – we’ll dig in, we’ll find a way to win.’ And I thought we did a great job. Spida (Donovan Mitchell) made some great shots. He is who is he is. You’ve got to give him credit – he made some great shots under really good defense, but when we needed the stops the most we were able to come up with them.”

On Brandon Ingram’s performance tonight:

“To be honest with you, it doesn’t surprise me that much. I just think that the way he works and the way he’s gotten better and worked on his craft – sooner or later he was going to have a game like this. I thought he did everything we asked him to do – took good shots – and then, when he had to, found Fave (Derrick Favors) under the basket for a couple of dunks because they were coming out, trying to guard him. He just played a terrific game. I think you’re going to see more of those games like that because I think he’s worked extremely hard to get to where he is right now.”

Pelicans Forward/Center Derrick Favors:

On where this game stands in his personal ranking:

“It ranks up there for me. It’s probably one of the wildest, competitive games. I think overall as a team we came out, played hard. We knew they were a good team coming in – they have a lot of good players over there – and we just came out and played as a team. I think everyone in the locker room feels good about the way we played and how we handled the situation at the end and we got away with a win.”

On what it has been like to watch Brandon Ingram develop as a player this season:

“I’m not surprised. I saw how hard he worked in the off-season, and when I got here [I saw] how he was playing during training camp and in pre-season. I think he’s just taking advantage of the situation he is in right now, and he’s plying incredible right now. He’s basically our offense right now so he’s been playing great and we have to do a good job of continuing to get him open and get him some good looks at the rim.”

Pelicans Forward Brandon Ingram:

On how he feels about the offensive impact he brought tonight:

“I felt good. I think the guys did a good job of seeing me when I was open. I just took whatever the defense gave me and [Derrick Favors] did a really good job of screen-and-roll and just getting my man off me a little bit, and make the big make a decision. So overall it felt pretty good. ”

On if he is disappointed in himself for not reaching 50 points down the stretch:

“No. It will come again. My mom is going to be more upset than me, but it will come again.”
